SE Legislators Want Governor to Stay Put in Juneau

Two Southeast lawmakers want to make sure Juneau is the governor’s home base.  Sitka Senator Bert Stedman on Friday introduced Senate Bill 244, which clarifies the capital city is the governor’s “duty station.” Former Governor Sarah Palin rarely worked out of Juneau. Instead she lived at her home in Wasilla, charging the state a per diem. She also billed the state when her kids traveled with her, sparking ethics complaints. Stedman, a Republican, says that kind of behavior influenced his decision to introduce the bill.
