They should have left it damp, but the problem is just like Barrow, 1 person make TONS OF CASH on the "import tax." that the villagers have to pay to get their booze.

Of course they will blame EVERYONE ELSE, except for themselves when crimes & violence rises. I feel that if a person living in Alaska has an alcohol or drug related violation, that INSTANTLY any PFD or Native Corporation checks should be garnished.

This would solve a bit of the homeless problems, as well as drug / alcohol related injuries / deaths. But of course doing so would also cause the native corporations to scream out that the law is being UNFAIR to natives, and that they should get even MORE special treatments.

With alcohol readily available there's more violence, abuse, sexual violence, child abuse, child neglect, spouse abuse. People buying booze instead of food. I feel for the ones who are unable to provide for themselves. The little ones. And the older kids who have to take care of the younger ones instead of being a kid. And these are the villages who say they are hurting for food and money ? IF you can buy booze at them expensive prices you can afford to buy food and oil. Can't have it both ways.

thanks to the people that helped lift the damp status this has been opened and now they want to have another election to clos it, if a person dies from liquor can the families file a suit to that person because he started the petition to open the free flow of liquor?

it is sad we lower ourselves to drink our lives away. what were they thinking when they let the booze come in. they let the cat out of the box. more child abuse and domestic violence as result of this, just watch.

No-matter how many Laws are past this will not solve the alcohol abuse or any other type of abuse, the people themselves must reconect with a power much greater than themselves, a force that lay,s dormant with-in it must be a spiritual awakening,"LAWS" from the outside can never change Humanity just look at our condition now, it is only "Spiritual-Principle from with in that can bring about that change thanks....journey well and peace profound

I thought that the new liquor law doesn't go into affect until January? 90 days after
the election. I think they are exagerating to affect the next election.
