The state’s division of Senior Disabilities and Services has suspended taking applications under its Medicaid waiver and Personal Care programs.  The moratorium came after a federal audit found the state programs out-of-compliance with federal requirements.

I have written an official letter to the Governor or Alaska regarding the choices of sitting Council members of the Ketchikan City Hall. When former Mayor Weinstein left his post as to handling the Sen. Begich political front, the choice of the interim Mayor Lew Williams III was not questioned by the sitting council members, him (Williams) being one of the incumbent council sitting member having been catapulted to the mayorship when the sitting and incumbent Vice Mayor was scared to handle the job.
Then, there were two Council slots opened as the position of Williams and another councilman assigned out of Ketchikan resigned. There were 6 applicants among the resident. Sad thing to note is the present interim Mayor have pronounced his choice of 2 candidates, leaving the 4 applicants just because they do not have wives, children, siblings working presently in the City of Ketchikan. Is the city itself practicing nepotism and at the command of the interim Mayor.
At this juncture, my letter to Gov. Palin was not replied even for the courtesy of it. I have suggested that the interim Mayor and the two chosen councilmen selected to fill in the vacant posts be recalled and subject to an honest election based on the Constitution of the United States.
I am seeking the incoming Gov. Parnell to mete on this complaint and start giving the democratic process to the recall of subject interim personnel and let the City of Ketchikan advance this election issue for a vote.
