Five of President Obama’s top cabinet secretaries will visit Bethel next month as part of a “rural tour.”  The group includes Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan. They’ll be in Bethel August 12 to talk about rural infrastructure, green jobs and climate change.

These people need to stay out of our state. They are ruining our country fast. all we are going to hear is "more of the same". Great big promises with nothing but lies to back them up with. The President and his flunkies need to stop campaigning and actually do something that will help our country stay the best in the world. Everything they are doing now is going to do nothing but hurt us all.

i cringe at the thought of all this. atleast obama is not coming himself, they all need to stay out of this state.

It will be a reality check for most of them. They need to walk through AC and see the utility cost! Chris D & C. Holmes must not live in the Bush Alaska.

Gee, Bristol Bay is where "THEY" want to put in that Pebble Mine, isn't it?! No way would the President just come to Bethel to view and care about the area! You can find "RURAL" in any countless villages.

Alaska beware, Obama is americas satan. He will desive you with words that are not true. If you don't belive me. Look back what he said when he was running, and see what he is doing now. Just for example, look how he and his Clitons are doing with Isreal. He will take down Americas best, Alaska. Time will prove me right!

To the great people of Alsaka and the "REAL" USA,

I do not live in Alaska but admire the state, the people and the soon to retire govenor. It is saddening to me that you are under such attach from this subversive regime and the fake president that presides over it.

Stand tall Alaska and know that there are millions of real americans here that support you and that are watching. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

why are they fixated with ykdelta, bristol bay is also have concerns as well. alaska villages are poverty strucked due to no economic developments (jobless country). need to do the best to create jobs but what?
  • mae
yk delta was in the news as proverty stricken and that is why they are fixating yk delta - salazar already went to bristal bay region already with others in march or april was it? Jobs are created but the jobs go to the new residents and the aboriginals are kept out in the cold and the ones that are heard are not the aboriginal of Alaska. They keep the voice and claim to be from here but the real people are not heard.

Ironically enough... back several years ago when Slick Willy was President he sent his 'green crew' up to the North Slope to see the 'damning' evidence of damage caused by North Slope production.

Not only were they amazed at how little the impact was to the wildlife, but were dumbfounded to see the caribou seeking shelter from mosquitos underneath the module's in and around Milne Point.

Then of course, they went back to DC and went back to spouting their usual bunny hugger sponsored rhetoric about how evil it is to drill for oil in Alaska because of all the damage to wildlife it is causing.

If they want a taste of what it's like... send them to St. Michael or Tok for a month... and see how it really is.

My husband (whom I might add proudly served in the U.S. Army for 24 years) and I (five generation military) are originally from Hawaii, the U.S. Government trained on Koho'olawe, until they exhausted the last fresh spring water supply on that island (Eddie would go), then they targeted Puerto Rico and Samoa for statehood to train and destroy their islands as well. Fortunately they were smart enough to reject the offer, rightfully so, why not? They already have all the ammenities, privileges and benefits of being citizens, what else would they gain by becoming a state, other than an invitation to invade and dictate over their land. It was then my husband and I elected to make Alaska our home. Now the unspoils of Alaska have become increasing popular and for what? GREED!
We're paying almost $3 a gallon for fuel and it's processed right here in this state. How come? Our Governor Sarah Palin was not only mocked during her campaign and had her family matters negatively displayed in a public forum on a daily basis, then she was treated in a manner contrary to what this country represents and stands for, especially by folks (namely Katie Couric) in the lower 48, that not only never had the privilege of getting to know her or her family, but now have the audacity to comment on why she resigned from office. Go figure! The only thing she was missing was a set of BDU's (battle dress uniform). She's been at war, since August '08. ThanX America for returning what would've proven to been one of the best things to happen to this nation. I didn't vote for her, to insure her position here. Our state would've suffered without her. Besides the rest of the nation isn't ready for a wholesome, clean cut, gun weilding, bring-it-on, lay-it-out-on-the-table, honest and trustworthy person like Sarah Palin. She's good people, but you folks will never know it. Had I foreseen this nation would be so judgmental and mean spirited, in keeping her out, you could've saved us all a trip to the polls. Believe it or not, she's done good for Alaska, we're proud to have her here. You wanted her out, she's out, now you all stay out. We can do bad all by ourselves, we don't need any help from you folks. ThanX, Nettie

They need to hear about, how the State has wrongly treated the first people of this land with their state laws. Under the state of Alaska our village's heat was provided by a foriegn generosity for years. Our tribal sovereignty must be re-instated! We need more protection from Washington for survival of our tribes.
