Don Young wants to tap the Tongass to fund education

Congressman Don Young wants Alaska to take over timber-rich lands in Southeast’s Tongass National Forest from the federal government. He’s authored legislation allowing the state to select almost 2 million acres of Forest Service property. Proceeds from timber sales would help fund the region’s schools.
