The city of Adak is running out of fuel to run their electrical generators. Adak City Manager Steven Hines says this morning they had enough to provide about 15 hours of electricity to the 300 person community. They’ve only been providing power for 11 hours per day since Monday.

What the heck kind of planning is that? I’d start looking for a new city manager.
I’m sorry to hear about Adak having any kind of problem - I live in Montgomery, Alabama now, but Adak is close to my heart as my firstborn child was born on the island 15 years ago while my active duty navy husband was stationed there. I think I left my heart there when we were forced to move off (because of the base closing) because I think of the island all the time. I dream of one day being able to bring our family of 5 back to see my firstborn’s home - especially for her sake. We lived at 116C Sandy Cove. Please take care of Adak. You dont realize how beautiful and majestic she really is until you lose her. Yes she is isolated and yes the weather is awful - if it isn’t snowing, its raining or the wind is knocking you down, but Adak is one of the most precious places in the world to me. Please take care of her.
I am saddened to here of the plight of Adak. I spent 13 months there in the 60’s. Now,years later I would give anything to go back for a visit. Let’s hope that this situation can be resolved.
today - at 10 AM on APRN there was supposed to be a fish report on pollock and other fish moving across the us/russian boundary - I was not near a radio at 10 AM - why can’t I find this on your site?
Sorry about that, Earl. We’ll have it posted around mid-day on Wednesday (today).
