Which Democrat will get Alaska’s superdelegates?

The tight race to become the Democratic party presidential nominee is putting the party’s super delegates in a powerful position. The 800 or so super delegates are party leaders or elected officials who can choose to support the candidate they like, regardless of each state’s caucus or primary results. It is unlikely Senator Hillary Clinton or Senator Barack Obama will be earn enough regular delegates to win the nomination. And that means super delegates could play a deciding role in choosing a nominee. Alaska has just four super delegates- fewer than almost any other state. So far, two are undecided, one will vote for Obama and the other for Clinton.

What good are “super delegates” if they do not follow the will of the people? For my money they are immoral and should be done away with.

I was precinct captain for Obama in Haines. Haines voted 77% for Obama. We had 100 people turn out for the caucus, and over 50% of those were newly registered voters and/or newly registered Democrats. Alaska’s superdelegates should recognize that it is Senator Obama who is going to generate enthusiasm for the Democratic party in Alaska and across the nation. The Clintons should endorse Sen. Obama soon and ensure themselves top posts in the new administration. We need all hands on deck. Alaska’s superdelegates should enthusiastly endorse Sen. Obama–the sooner, the better–for all concerned.

Contact your Alaska superdelegates and let them know what you think.

We MUST settle on ONE candidate by June 10th; so-called Super Delegates need to be ready to decide as a block in all states who to support. This election is Democrats to lose. We must not wait past mid June to settle and get to work!
