Homeland Defense Secretary Chertoff plans trip to Alaska’s arctic

With climate change opening access to the Arctic Ocean, the Coast Guard is gearing up to increase its presence there. So Homeland Defense Secretary Michael Chertoff plans to come up and get a first-hand look at the situation in coming months.

    I guess it is about time the head of the federal FEMA and Homeland Security came. The Northwest Passage cruise ships have already started scheduling.

    Will he also travel down the Yukon to see the imminent disasters due to environmental change and erosion (wholesale community relocation) or visit Bethel to tour the official non-existent mass disaster shelter http://tinyurl.com/2gyje3

    Joel– isn’t the Dept officially Homeland Security ? although your version is more accurate of a short-sighted bunker mentality.
