Stevens was especially upset by a proposal to slash funding for the Essential Air Service program that subsidizes airline service to remote rural areas.

Here’s another example of a Senator Stevens social give-a-way program paid for by hard working Lower 48 tax payers. Senator Stevens has a never ending supply of ideas on how to spend our money to help his voters. Why is it rural Alaskans never do anything to help poor Arizonans? If Alaskans want to subsidize air freight into the middle of nowhere, they should call their Governor and ask her for the money.
