And what do you do with your groceries when you have a kid holding one hand and can’t carry a cardboard box in just the other??? Good thing I have 20,000 plastic bags of my own to bring to the store!
Just wanted to let people know that Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA) is launching a “Re3:rethink plastics” campaign to address solutions to plastic pollution. Teens will be in Juneau learning about the plastic tax March 9-13, and host regional Week Without Plastics events with partnering grocery stores April 14-21. They have created education resources and outreach material that is posted on our web site–for any youth, community group, store owner, or anyone else wanting to get involved! http://www.ayea.org and click on “Rethink Plastics”
Is there a list of AYEA supporters available? I would like to focus spending my money in a “friendly” establishment, rather than wasting my time with businesses that just don’t get it.
for That One Guy: teens are lining up partnerships with stores right now to promote recycling of plastic bags and also distribute re-usable bags. We don’t have the list yet but we should in the coming weeks. Please give us a shout at 339-3907 for more info. AYEA (Week Without Plastics is now April 20-27)
