Alaska Gasline Port Authority not giving up yet

Despite the governor’s rejection of their proposal for the second time, the Alaska Gasline Port Authority still hopes to work with the administration on a natural gas pipeline. Palin’s team said last month that the Port Authority’s proposal for a pipeline was incomplete. The Port Authority appealed, asking for more time, because it couldn’t get important data from project partners that pulled out of the bid. But Palin’s office said on Wednesday that it won’t reconsider the proposal.

I hope equal or more importance is given to an in-state natural gas line, versus only one gas line to one market in one pipeline through a foreign country! We need to look at the long term interests of ALASKA`S internal economy and quality of life, as well as the obvious advantage of having TWO markets for our gas. Plus the ability to take-off natural gas to more Alaskan communities, who are being killed by high heating oil and natural gas bills. The voices urging an in-state line are aware of the above. The rest of us and the legislature need to be educated on this issue, as it is a win-win for Alaska if an in-state line is given a higher priority now, while we are still holding the better cards in this game.
