A federal jury has found former Anchorage state Representative Tom Anderson guilty of seven counts of bribery, extortion and money laundering.

Walking out of the courthouse today, Anderson said the decision was not what he was expecting. Defense attorney Paul Stockler said he was also disappointed in the verdict.

Anderson was accused of taking official actions to benefit Cornell Companies in exchange for money and conspiring to hide the payments in the summer and fall of 2004.

Anderson will be sentenced at a hearing at the federal courthouse in Anchorage on October 2, 2007.
